Meghan Markle’s move to the UK may not be the only comeback she’s planning to make. The Duchess of Sussex may be eyeing a new acting role as well.
She has “been offered a role in an upcoming project based in the UK,” according to news.com.au. We’ve reached out to the Sussexes and their Archewell Productions imprint for confirmation.
There are no further details on what the project will be, but the show has been described as the “main reason” for Markle and Prince Harry to return to the UK with their children.
It comes after the surprise announcement that the Sussexes were planning to leave their California home and move “for an extended period” to Britain, where the latter has lived permanently in 2020. The couple ended their official royal duties when they moved to the US, where they have focused on media projects – including landing a lucrative production deal with Netflix.
Before marrying into the British royal family, Markle starred in the USA Network legal drama Suitsin which she starred as paralegal Rachel for the first seven seasons, with her character eventually marrying the show’s co-lead, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams).
Markle has since focused on her own TV shows, including the Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan and With love, Meganand podcast series Prototypes. She has also hosted MasterChef Australia. Last year, it was announced that she would be playing a small role in the Amazon MGM Studios film Close personal friendsTo end an eight-year hiatus from acting. The film stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding.
Harry and Meghan will return to the UK very soon, with their children enrolled in British schools, whose new years begin in September. Reports say they will remain privates and non-working members of the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also plan to keep their home in Montecito, and Archewell Productions will remain US-based.
