It’s all about the money in writer-director Jérôme Pierrat’s feature debut. His lord (La Moula), in which he also stars.
The crime drama, which also stars Kader Ben Choudard, Jean Ruimi, Jean-Michel Correa, Thierry Coignard, Patrice Kouyoumdjian, Jean-Mathieu Fratacci, Fathi Makdoudi, Michel Ociani, and Jacques Sordi, will have its world premiere on Wednesday, September 9, in the Horizons section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. It takes us on an 82-minute cinematic journey into a world that we – or at least most of us – do not know intimately.
After all, Pierrat made a name for himself as a journalist investigating organized crime in France. Now that you know that, the description of the movie’s plot won’t surprise you much. Keep in mind: it is not a documentary, but rather a narrative film, in which the director draws from his real-life experiences and expertise.
“Thanks to Charlie, a cocaine smuggler, and his fellow gangsters, Jerome, a struggling organized crime reporter, sees an opportunity to relaunch his career,” the film’s synopsis reads. “While waiting for a drug shipment near Marseille, the possible presence of a policeman puts them all in danger…”
