Specifically, it came from the multiple fears I would have when I would travel home to visit my family, where you come home, and you’re so excited to see your family, but there are some complicated dynamics. But then, I would worry about visions of them dying in horrific ways. And I think that taught me a few things; that I worry, and also that I love my family very much, and that I just can’t help but imagine what it would be like if they died, because I know that if that happens, it will be… It completely obliterated my life, and so this film, in a way, is about putting that anxiety into cinematic form
